New Beginnings! - Part 2: Some Practical Things and Prayer - Attempt No. 2
My previous attempt at this post failed miserably and I ended up losing everything I'd written so this is attempt number two.
Part 2a: Practical Bit
I've decided to try and put in place a little regular timetable for updating the blog. It's by no means strict, but I'll try and stick to it so please don't worry if I'm too busy to post or haven't gotten round to writing anything, especially on a Wednesday. I also might add in a few extra updates every so often, so I'd recommend that you subscribe by following either set of instructions in my previous post.
The Schedule
Fridays - Main Update: On a Friday, begins my day-and-a-half off so I thought I'd try and do a big update of what I've been up to this week and including prayer requests and things as well. This will be the main update each week and the one I'm most worried about getting done.
Wednesdays - Thoughts & Ramblings: I've just realised today that Wednesday afternoons are also quite free so I've decided to use this time as a kindof admin afternoon to get things done like computer work, photocopying and preparation for other things later in the week. But also, I thought it'd be good to spend some time preparing and then writing a quick blog entry with my thoughts on some bible passage or something, probably relating to worship just to challenge my theological skillz as something fun to do, so hopefully this will work out and my thoughts will be useful and actually maybe bless someone... we'll see.
So I'll post up a big update this Friday afternoon, and then either later on if I get the chance, or probably next Wednesday I'll post the first of the other ones. So hopefully I'll be able to get out two posts a week, maybe missing a couple if things are a little busy but hopefully I'll be able to stick to that plan.
Part 2b: Prayer
I realised that I probably should have stuck some prayer requests and stuff on the end of my previous post so I thought I'd make up for it by covering it here...
Thankyous:
Thank God for the amazing welcome I've had at St Mary's and for good relationships with David, Catharine and the rest of the congregation.
Thank God for a great SMASH planning meeting yesterday, and for the awesome giftings and the unity of the team that has been put together.
Thank God for the openness of the headteachers in the Church Schools and for the ease with which I'm working with them.
Thank God for my walk to church every morning.
Outside:
Pray for Catherine's friends Adrian and Ruth, who have been involved in a major car crash. Adrain is in Intensive Care fighting for his life and Ruth has severe damage to both her legs.
St Mary's Prayer Diary intructs us to pray for the Holy Land - for the relationship between Israel and the Lebanon and I think this is really important - especially those caught in the middle of the conflict. Brother Andrew talked about a group of orphans left behind in Southern Lebanon, and I'm sure there are others stuck in the middle both physically and politically.
Inside:
Pray for the Worship Group practise and the Time for Praise practise afterwards for the youth who are leading it this Sunday.
Pray for a good relationship with Frieda, our NSM Curate, who is my pastoral supervisor, and who will be taking over David's role supervising me whilst he is away next week and the the week after on holiday.
Pray for a refreshing each morning from the holy spirit for me, so that I'll be able to sustain my routine of getting up and out for 8.30 each morning without dying / falling asleep halfway through the morning.
Pray for a shy little boy who I met at the Church Infants School this morning and made a pretty instant connection with straight away. I was helping him with handwriting and reading as he is at the bottom of his class (Year 2), and has severe problems with recognising letters and reading and writing. Pray that God would really touch his life through me, and that he would not lack confidence because he doesnt have the same abilities as the rest of his class.
Thankyou in advance for your prayers, and God Bless,
Cheers!
J.
